The 13th Aberdeen–Norway Gateway brought together businesses, industry organisations and regional stakeholders from Scotland and Norway to share experiences of operating across borders and explore new opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Through company case studies, market updates and industry perspectives, participants gained a better understanding of the business landscape in both regions.

A relationship built on decades of cooperation

Rogaland and Scotland share a long history of collaboration through the energy, maritime and offshore industries.

While the energy industry is changing, both regions remain strong industrial hubs, with opportunities in subsea and maritime technology, offshore wind and low-emission solutions, alongside established energy activities.

“Rogaland and Scotland have worked closely together for decades, and that cooperation remains as important as ever. As the energy industry evolves, we see new opportunities emerging on both sides of the North Sea. The Aberdeen–Norway Gateway is a valuable arena for strengthening connections and exploring those opportunities together,” says Ole Ueland, County Mayor of Rogaland.

Strong activity creates opportunities

During the event, participants heard how Norway continues to offer significant opportunities for international businesses. Industry forecasts point to continued activity in Norway's oil and gas industry, while ambitions for offshore wind development and other low-carbon solutions are creating new market opportunities in both countries.

Leif Johan Sevland, President and CEO of the ONS Foundation, highlighted the continued strength of Norway’s energy industry and the country's commitment to developing both existing and emerging sectors.

Several companies shared their experiences of operating on both sides of the North Sea, demonstrating how Scottish and Norwegian businesses can benefit from market access, partnerships and knowledge exchange. Speakers included Motive Offshore, Imenco, Roemex, Reach Subsea and Mocean Energy.

Participants also heard from the Net Zero Technology Centre and the Energy Transition Zone, two organisations playing a central role in supporting innovation, investment and business growth in north-east Scotland.

Looking ahead to ONS 2026

Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) will take place in Stavanger from 24 to 27 August. As one of the world's leading energy conferences, ONS brings together companies, investors, policymakers and industry leaders from around the world.
