Scotland and Norway strengthen energy ties at Aberdeen–Norway Gateway

Norway Gateway 2025 Speakers and Presenters

Last week saw the 12th Aberdeen–Norway Gateway take place in Aberdeen, once again confirming the strong ties between Rogaland and Scotland.

Held ahead of Offshore Europe, the event brought together companies, clusters and civic leaders from both sides of the North Sea. For more than a decade, the Gateway has provided a platform for knowledge exchange, networking and collaboration – and this year showed that the partnership is as relevant as ever.

The programme combined keynote contributions, company showcases and informal discussions, with a clear focus on opportunities in offshore wind, carbon capture, hydrogen and maritime innovation. The event highlighted how Rogaland and Aberdeen are not only connected by shared history in oil and gas, but also by the potential of new low-carbon industries.

For businesses, the message was straightforward: support is available. Actors such as Invest in Rogaland, Innovation Norway, Invest Aberdeen and Scottish Development International are all here to help companies with market entry and growth across borders. Industry clusters such as Norwegian Offshore Wind and Global Underwater Hub also provide the networks that make collaboration concrete.

Rogaland’s Deputy Mayor Svein Erik Indbjo underlined the shared supply chains that already exist across the North Sea, and the need to build on this foundation with coordinated planning and investment. Chairing the event, Invest in Rogaland’s Rita Østbø Stobbs pointed to the importance of collaboration in delivering the energy transition.

With Offshore Europe now concluded, the Gateway once again proved itself as a trusted bridge between two regions committed to working together, strengthening ties and opening doors for companies on both sides of the North Sea.
